In LA Since 2005, under the direction of Alexandra Blackbird Pierre, Blackbird Dance Company has been a performance group and studio space serving Los Angeles area.
Blackbird is a quintuple threat performer, arts educator and community builder. As a Professor of Dance, she has a Masters in Education, plus she is a Doctoral Candidate in Sports & Performance Psychology (Neurophysiology- geek). Blackbird is an eclectic Choreographer and Creative Director in 70 styles of movement. She has been performing in acting, dance, modeling, gymnastics and sports since she was 4. You will feel at home in Blackbird classes and projects- as she understands the many different layers involved in the current generations, especially neurodiversity. Kids are definitely coming in wired differently now and we can applaud this diversity without the labels! Looking to get back to dance, movement, body , and self? Let's do it! There are options for many styles, adult classes and company performance opportunities. We can book multi-levels, ages, and options in private lessons as well.
